The Hornbill Foundation has been working with the Kadar indigenous community in Vazhachal-Malakkapara part of Anamalais of Western Ghats with support from the Forest, Tribal, Revenue Departments and Panchayat on right based conservation, empowerment and Education since 2004. This site is to provide resources available on Community Forest Resource (CFR) and it management under the Forest Right Act (FRA) 2006. This was Developed with the support of CED and CEPF ATREE Western Ghats Small Grant Programme 2012.


The Forest Department along with the tribal department, and Panchayath facilitated formation of the CFR Management Committees in Vazhachal on 22nd November 2014.The Vazhachal Grama Sabha meeting convened in Vazhachal chaired by the FRC secretary of the Grama Sabha Mr. K. Post CFR Workshop - Thiruvanthapuram

Post CFR Workshop - Thiruvanthapuram

There was a consultation for the southern regions where various tribal GS members, experts and civil organizations participated and contributed.
Dr. T R Vinod, Programme Co-ordinator, CED welcomed the gathering. Presidential Address by Sri. P K Sivanandan, IAS, Vice Chairman, Institute for Societal Advancement. The programme was inaugurated by Mr. T. MadhavaMenon IAS (Rtd), the first ST director of the state.
